Baseball Recap: Wink Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Wink ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Reagan County Owls. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 9-1 victory on April 10th.

BLAKE ARCHIBALD and CAYSON CUELLAR were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, ARCHIBALD didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Meanwhile, CUELLAR tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wink is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-14 otherwise. At the plate, ARCHIBALD went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while CUELLAR went 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most runs CUELLAR has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, REMINGTON NEVES was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of KOLT LUSBY, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Wink hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 5-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win made it two in a row for Wink and bumps their season record up to 11-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Reagan County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-16.

Wink has already played their next contest, an 8-0 loss against Eldorado on the 29th. Reagan County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
