The Pickens Dragons will head out on the road to face off against the White County Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pickens will be strutting in after a win while White County will be coming in after a loss.
Pickens can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They put the hurt on West Hall with a sharp 35-12 win.
Pickens' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Streicher, who rushed for eight yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 230 yards and a touchdown while completing 87.5% of his passes. Miguel Salto was in the mix too, providing Pickens with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, White County's game on Friday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to Lumpkin County 61-55. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (38), White County still had to take the loss.
White County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tripp Nix, who threw for 166 yards and five touchdowns, and Ryan Fowler who rushed for 247 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Fowler really tore up the turf during one magnificent 82-yard run. Cam Wilson did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 28 receiving yards.
Pickens' victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for White County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Everything went Pickens' way against White County in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as Pickens made off with a 48-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pickens since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
