The Highland Hornets and the Navajo Prep Eagles will face off at 5:00 p.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Highland knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Navajo Prep likes a good challenge.
Last Saturday, Highland humbled Las Cruces with a 75-46 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-23.
Jesus Licon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 35 points and 3 assists. The contest was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Raul Stanford, who scored 18 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Navajo Prep's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Las Cruces by a score of 55-53. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Navajo Prep has scored all season.
Highland's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Navajo Prep, their defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3.
