After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sheridan, Philo was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Maysville Panthers.
Philo walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the fourth set). Once all was said and done, the final set scores wound up at 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 25-15.
Riley Hampp had another great game (as she tends to do), getting 39 assists, 18 digs, six kills, and two aces. The team also got some help from Ava White, who had 12 kills, nine digs, three aces, and two solo blocks.
Despite the defeat, Maysville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lilah Jones had 20 assists and 17 digs. Another player making a difference was Avery Daniels, who had 15 digs, 10 kills, and a solo block.
Philo is now 7-13, having gone 2-1 since their four-game losing streak ended. As for Maysville, they have traveled a rocky road for a while, having lost 35 of their last 42 matchups, dating back to last year. That's dragged them to a 6-14 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Philo will face off against their in-conference opponent Coshocton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Maysville is set to take on their familiar foe Meadowbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
