The Mica Mountain Thunderbolts will face off against the Cienega Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mica Mountain will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Mica Mountain is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Rincon/University get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Tuesday. With that win, the Thunderbolts brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Cody Barnes and Ryan McCammond dominated on the mound. Barnes tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, while McCammond tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Barnes also tossed no walks, which is notable because Mica Mountain is 2-0-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elijah Higuera, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ethan Hunt, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Mica Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Cienega had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Empire on Tuesday, sneaking past 6-5.
Cienega also got a great performance from ZAK VASQUEZ as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, LIAM SCHMIDT was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That run marked the first that he scored this season. NANO LOPEZ was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Mica Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 3-4-1. As for Cienega, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Mica Mountain's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. Mica Mountain has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Cienega, though, as they've been averaging only 0.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mica Mountain continue to outrun the ball?
