Softball Recap: Montcalm Drops Season-High Score on Mount View

Montcalm extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-5 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mount View Golden Knights. On the bright side, the nine- run performance marked the Generals' highest-scoring match to date.

As for Mount View, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.8 runs over those games.

For Mount View's part, Shiann Carter was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Carter a new career-high. Shianne Belcher was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montcalm will host Bluefield at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mount View, they will be playing at home against Greater Beckley Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Golden Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
