The Alief Hastings Bears lost against the Shadow Creek Sharks back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Alief Hastings took a 47-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shadow Creek. While losing is never fun, Alief Hastings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Shadow Creek is ranked 121st).
Despite the loss, Alief Hastings had strong showings from Melinda Winston, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, and Favour Emeka, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Emeka continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shadow Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Da'niyah Lewis, who scored ten points along with five assists. Zoe Senganya was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Alief Hastings' loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Shadow Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.
Alief Hastings is on the road again on Friday and play against Alief Taylor at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Alief Taylor focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Wednesday. As for Shadow Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alief Elsik at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
