The Desert Edge Scorpions will face off against the Buckeye Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Desert Edge's victory against North Canyon wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Desert Edge had just enough and edged out North Canyon 8-7 on Thursday. The Scorpions haven't had any issues with the Rattlers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Zeus Durazo was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Tyson Kinnear was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Buckeye got themselves on the board against North on Wednesday, but North never followed suit. They blew past the Mustangs 18-0. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hawks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Mayco Morales made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Morales was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Maddox Villegas was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Adrian Fierro, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Buckeye always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North only posted an OBP of .154.
Desert Edge's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Buckeye, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Desert Edge skirted past Buckeye 5-4 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Desert Edge repeat their success, or does Buckeye has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
