After flying high against the Central Valley Cougars last Friday, the Stuart Broncos came back down to earth. Stuart took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bloomfield. Stuart lost against Bloomfield in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 58-55 score last time.
Stuart's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hunter Tubbs, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Tubbs is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Kayde Ramm was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five steals.
Layne Warrior was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 25 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Eisenhauer, who scored ten points.
Stuart's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1. As for Bloomfield, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stuart will challenge Twin Loup at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bloomfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Winside at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Winside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Friday.
