AAA District 2 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Sevier County extended the longest winning streak in AAA District 2 this week by beating Morristown-Hamblen East, 49-0. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Smoky Bears.
Sevier County took down the Hurricanes 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Seymour's dynamic duo of Corbin Ogle and DJ Griffin proved tough for Morristown-Hamblen West to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ogle threw for 126 yards and one touchdown and Griffin had 57 yards receiving. Chris Grimo helped Seymour's passing attack out by catching three balls for 28 yards.
Brody Rollins was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 133 yards on 11 carries as South-Doyle fell to the Trojans. Teammate Samuel Perry added to the ground attack by rushing for nine yards.
Seymour's Nick Sexton and Griffin have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Sexton has thrown for 1783 yards this season, while Griffin, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 48 catches for 738 yards. The Cherokees' Jocquez Bruce leads the league in rushing yards with 718.
Jefferson County made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,043 from 1,251. The advance stemmed from a 10-0 victory over South-Doyle last week.
