The Kingfisher Yellowjackets will head out on the road to challenge the Anadarko Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Anadarko took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Kingfisher, who comes in off a win.
Kingfisher is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing North Rock Creek: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Yellowjackets blew the Cougars out of the water with a 34-0 final score. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 33 points or more this season.
Among those leading the charge was Jackson Willbanks, who picked up 59 receiving yards and two scores. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles and defending one pass.
Kingfisher didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited North Rock Creek to a completion percentage of just 31.6%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Willbanks, Izak Oaks, and Carter Stephenson, who each logged one passes deflected. Kingfisher has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.63 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.63 in their last three games.
Kingfisher didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Kasen Blair, Brett Calamateo, and Kaden Cline picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Anadarko lost 49-28 to Plainview on Thursday. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Kingfisher will need to focus on slowing down Napoleon Camp, one of several Anadarko players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 142 receiving yards and one TD. Camp was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 50 yards.
The victory made it two in a row for Kingfisher and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 points in those games. As for Anadarko, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Kingfisher took their victory against Anadarko when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 31-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
