Basketball Recap: Walnut Now 12-2 over Last 14 Games

If Claremont wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Walnut, they should've done a better job of containing Nathan Yen. The Walnut Mustangs walked away with a 69-56 victory over the Claremont Wolfpack on Tuesday thanks in part to Yen, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Claremont lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaden Wang, who went 6 of 15 en route to 19 points. Wang continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Cardenas, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards.

Walnut is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Claremont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Walnut will welcome Ayala at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Walnut knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Ayala likes a good challenge. As for Claremont, they are taking a road trip to take on Bonita at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Claremont is facing Bonita at the right time seeing as Bonita is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
