The Nova Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Norland on Saturday as Nova made off with a 50-27 victory. The score was close at the half, but Nova pulled away in the second half with 33 points.
Leading Nova to victory were J'Yan Tyrell and Jaelynn Housey. Tyrell scored 20 points along with eight rebounds, while Housey scored 15 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Housey has scored at least 25% of Nova's points. Kyra Paul was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Norland still got an impressive performance from Jasmine Johnson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her.
Nova's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Norland, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Nova is on the road again on Thursday and play against Doral Academy at 4:30 p.m. on December 28th. Averaging 67.6 so far this season, Doral Academy's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Nova better be ready for a challenge. Norland will finish 2023 at home by hosting Purcell Marian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Purcell Marian will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
