The Jacksboro Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Millsap Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Jacksboro sitting on four straight victories and Millsap on five.
Jacksboro can't be too worried about heading out to take on Millsap: they just beat Holliday at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Eagles 2-0.
Not much got past Cannon Valenzuela, who gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Holliday off the board. Valenzuela has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jacksboro secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Kase Dennis, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits Dennis has posted since back in February.
Meanwhile, Millsap got the win against Dublin on Friday by a conclusive 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Carson Crouch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, Millsap got a big performance out of Reid Green, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Miles Griffin, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Jacksboro pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Millsap, their record now sits at 13-11.
Jacksboro came up short against Millsap when the teams last played back in February of 2021, falling 6-3. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
