Baseball Recap: Oakmont Regional's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Oakmont Regional dropped their record down to 9-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneer Valley Regional Panthers. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Pioneer Valley Regional, the win keeps they at an undefeated 14-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.3 runs this season.

For Pioneer Valley Regional's part, Ethan Quinn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Quinn has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Alex McClelland was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Braeden Tsipenyuk, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Looking ahead, Oakmont Regional will be playing at home against Northbridge at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pioneer Valley Regional, they will venture away from home to take on Franklin County Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
