Softball Recap: Central City Value Wins Going Away Against Animo Bunche

Central City Value was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Animo Bunche on Monday. The Jaguars blew past the Stallions 27-10. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won seven matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Mercedes Ponce was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Emily Gonzalez was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Gabriela Sanchez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with seven RBI, two runs, and one double.

Central City Value has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.7 runs over those games. As for Animo Bunche, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Central City Value will have a chance to go back-to-back against Animo Bunche: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
