The Proviso East Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight defeat. They lost to Downers Grove South at home by a decisive 56-39 margin. Proviso East was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Downers Grove South apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Proviso East lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Denyell Rush, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Pickens, who scored ten points.
Proviso East's defeat dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Downers Grove South, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-7.
Proviso East will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Leyden at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Illinois (Leyden is ranked 186th, while Proviso East is ranked 171st). As for Downers Grove South, they will head out on the road to challenge Addison Trail at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Downers Grove South is coming into the contest with five straight victories on the road, so Addison Trail is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
