The Medora Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 21 points or more this season. They really took it to Cannelton for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-30 win on the road. The victory was just what Medora needed coming off of a 81-49 defeat in their prior game.
Medora's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hudson Johnson, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for him. Jaxon Nugen was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Cannelton lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Trevor Hale. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points. Hale scored a full 36.7% of Cannelton's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Medora's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Cannelton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Medora will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Columbus Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Columbus Christian is ranked 402nd, while Medora is ranked 407th). Cannelton will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Vincennes Rivet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
