The Selma Bears will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Kingsburg Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Selma is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
Last Friday, Selma was the victim of a rough 47-21 loss at the hands of Kerman.
Although Selma took the loss, they still got scores from Nico Torres and Jordan Alvarado.
Meanwhile, Kingsburg put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 38-16 margin over Reedley. Given Kingsburg's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 199th, while Reedley is ranked 710th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kingsburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Max Warkentin, who threw for 247 yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Dennis Gagnon, who rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.
Kerman's win bumped their season record to 4-5 while Selma's defeat dropped theirs to 1-8.
Selma was dealt a bruising 76-22 defeat at the hands of Kingsburg in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Selma have more luck at home instead of on the road?
