The Spencer Rockets lost against the Owen-Withee Blackhawks back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Spencer lost to Owen-Withee on the road by a decisive 61-43 margin. While losing is never fun, Spencer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 380th, while Owen-Withee is ranked 150th).
Despite the loss, Spencer saw an underclassman step up: Autumn Davis scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That was a full 46.5% of Spencer's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Alexis Mlsna, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Spencer dropped their record down to 4-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Owen-Withee, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Spencer will head out on the road to square off against Newman at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Owen-Withee, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Ellsworth at 7:15 p.m. on January 29th. Ellsworth is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
