The Erath Bobcats will challenge the Port Barre Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Erath has five straight victories, Port Barre has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Erath's win against Loreauville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bobcats had just enough and edged out the Tigers 5-3. That's two games straight that the Bobcats have won by exactly two runs.

Carson Detraz tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 5.2 innings pitched. Erath is undefeated when Detraz allows one or fewer hits, but 3-4 otherwise.
At the plate, Landon Lemaire was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Erath hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Port Barre and Lafayette Christian Academy meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Red Devils lost 10-4 to the Knights. That's two games in a row now that the Red Devils have lost by exactly six runs.
Port Barre saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tylus Metrejean, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double. That double was Metrejean's first of the season.
Port Barre's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Erath, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Port Barre's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Erath hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. It's a different story for Port Barre, though, as they've only averaged .258. Will they be able to contain Erath's hitters?
Erath got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Port Barre by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
