The Pendleton Heights Arabians fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Greenfield-Central Cougars on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 74-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (62), Pendleton Heights still had to take the loss.
Several Arabians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josiah Gustin, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Laravia, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds.
Braylon Mullins was his usual excellent self, scoring 51 points along with five rebounds and three steals for Greenfield-Central. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mullins has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Boston Willard, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Pendleton Heights now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Greenfield-Central, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pendleton Heights won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hamilton Southeastern at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Hamilton Southeastern is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season. As for Greenfield-Central, they will head out on the road to take on Delta at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Delta is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Greenfield-Central a 17-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
