The Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 88-53 loss at the hands of Mercy. Archbishop Spalding was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Magic apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Archbishop Spalding lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Whitley Watkins, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Danniella Sebastian, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Archbishop Spalding's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Mercy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop Spalding and the Saints will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully St. Mary's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Saturday. Mercy is on the road again on Monday and plays the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th. McDonogh is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
