Indian Creek took a 59-40 bruising from Earlville. While losing is never fun, Indian Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 337th, while Earlville is ranked 35th).
When it comes to explaining why Indian Creek lost, one person who can't be blamed is Everett Willis. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with 4 steals. The game was Willis' third in a row with at least ten points. Logan Schrader was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Earlville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Griffin Cook, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 10 rebounds. The match was Cook's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Browder, who scored 17 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Indian Creek and nudges their season record down to 4-2. As for Earlville, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Indian Creek will be playing at home against Woodstock at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Earlville, they will head out on the road to face off against Newark at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Newark focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Saturday.
