It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Anthem Prep Eagles ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lincoln Prep 70-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Anthem Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Titus Franklin led the charge by scoring 21 points. That's the first time this season that Franklin scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kj Bohn, who scored 16 points.
Several Lightning players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lucky Singh, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Singh also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Torey Williams was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with nine rebounds.
Anthem Prep's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Lincoln Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing North Phoenix Preparatory Academy the next time they take the court. Lincoln Prep will head out to face North Phoenix Preparatory Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, while Anthem Prep will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.
