Central State Eight recap Nov. 7, 2012
Rochester extended the longest winning streak in Central State Eight this week by beating Charleston, 42-14. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Rochester was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Trojans. Derek Leonard's team came in at 16 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.
Jacksonville's dynamic duo of Bryce Schnitker and Reggie Bratton proved tough for Sacred Heart-Griffin to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Schnitker threw for 275 yards and four touchdowns and Bratton had 155 yards receiving. Dalton Keene helped Jacksonville's passing attack out by catching five balls for 120 yards.
Garret Dooley was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 135 yards on 23 carries as the Rockets lost to the Cyclones. Drake Berberet also contributed to the rushing game with 97 yards on the ground.
Thanks to the talents of Austin Green and Dooley Rochester has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Green leads the league in passing with 2332 yards, while Dooley has rushed for 1067 yards this season. Jacksonville's Bratton leads the league in receiving yards with 1145 on 52 catches.
In 188 carries Brinton Wilkey has accumulated 988 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Glenwood takes on Sacred Heart-Griffin. At the moment, the Titans are in third, while Ken Leonard's team is in first.
The Rockets took down Charleston 42-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Green threw for 172 yards and one touchdown and ran for 35 yards in the win.
