Walkertown hasn't had much luck against McMichael recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wolfpack will be playing in front of their home fans against the Phoenix at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Walkertown 3, McMichael 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Walkertown is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Northwest Guilford on Friday. They lost 7-1 to the Vikings. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wolfpack have suffered since March 25, 2025.
Sadie Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Olivia Boast also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, McMichael put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Bartlett Yancey a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Phoenix have won five games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mack Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Johnson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lindsay Redmon was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. Olivia Wilson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
McMichael kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Walkertown's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for McMichael, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Walkertown has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like McMichael struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Walkertown couldn't quite finish off McMichael in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 and fell 5-3. Will the Wolfpack have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
