The Socastee Braves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight defeat. They took a 52-37 bruising from Conway. Socastee was down 45-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the loss, Socastee still got an impressive performance from Princess Collins, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Collins has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Smith, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Conway to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jahmya Dukes, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Dymond Bryant, who scored 16 points along with six steals.
Socastee has not been sharp recently as the team has lost 11 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for Conway, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-11.
Socastee will challenge Carolina Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Socastee has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Conway, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Sumter at 6:00 p.m. Sumter will roll in looking for their 20th straight victory, something Conway surely won't give up without a fight.
