After flying high against the Bennett County Warriors last Tuesday, the Kadoka Kougars came back down to earth. Kadoka took a 67-49 bruising from the Eagles on Friday. Kadoka has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Kadoka had strong showings from Garrett Hermann, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Gus Stout, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Hermann has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Jared Nemecek was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
Wall found their leader in underclassman Teelan Kjerstad, who scored 23 points. Kjerstad is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 20 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brodi Sundall, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Kadoka's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Wall, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kadoka will challenge the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Dakota (New Underwood is ranked 88th, while the Kougars are ranked 111th). Wall will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the Kougars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
