Castleberry is on a ten-game streak of home losses, the Porcupines a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Castleberry Lions will take on the Springtown Porcupines at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Castleberry comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last 12 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, Castleberry was the victim of a tough 42-18 loss at the hands of the Bullfrogs.
Meanwhile, Springtown suffered a tough 52-26 defeat at the hands of the Bulls on Friday. While losing is never fun, Springtown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 738th, while the Bulls are ranked 170th).
The losing side was boosted by Esther Balado, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 57.7% of Springtown's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Castleberry has been struggling recently as they've lost 19 of their last 21 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-23 record this season. As for Springtown, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-17.
Castleberry was dealt a bruising 52-17 defeat at the hands of the Porcupines when the teams last played back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Castleberry was down 31-8.
