After both having extra time off, the Alief Elsik Rams and the Foster Falcons will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alief Elsik is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
While Alief Elsik's win against Alief Hastings wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Alief Elsik came out on top in a nail-biter against Alief Hastings last Friday, sneaking past 8-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.
Thania Lopez was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Arayiah Lute, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Alief Elsik was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foster). They never let George Ranch get on the board and left with a 24-0 victory last Friday. Considering the Falcons have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Ariyanna Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Jaelynn Fuentes also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Foster's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-6-1. As for Alief Elsik, their record now sits at 4-5.
Alief Elsik's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. Alief Elsik has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Foster, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Alief Elsik continue to outrun the ball?
Alief Elsik suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to Foster in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can Alief Elsik avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
