The Arlington Admirals will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Carmel Rams at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Arlington sitting on ten straight wins and Carmel on seven.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Arlington walked away with it. Everything went their way against John Jay on Friday as Arlington made off with a 42-21 victory. Fans of Arlington have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Michael Rescigno was his usual excellent self, rushing for 216 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 177 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes. Rescigno really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.
Meanwhile, Carmel can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They blew past Suffern, posting a 35-6 victory at home. Carmel's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Christian Nunez and Tristan Cash Werlau were among the main playmakers for Carmel as the former rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries and the latter rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Ryan Aabel also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.
Arlington pushed their record up to 10-0 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30 points. As for Carmel, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Arlington has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 242 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Carmel struggles in that department as they've been averaging 240.9 per game. It's looking like Saturday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
