The Marysville Monarchs will take on the Grove City Greyhounds at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Marysville took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let Thomas Worthington get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Monarchs in their matchups with the CARDINALS: they've now won eight in a row.
Josie Bumgarner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Bumgarner was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jaidan Hutchins was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Hutchins is crushing it when it comes to home runs: she's launched at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Gwen Dyal was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Marysville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Grove City had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Greyhounds have posted since April 16, 2024.
Grove City's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Marysville, the victory got them back to even at 3-3-1.
Everything went Marysville's way against Grove City in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Marysville made off with a 10-1 win. Will the Monarchs repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
