Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Chaminade Julienne Catholic

Chaminade Julienne Catholic hadn't done well against Archbishop McNicholas recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Eagles blew past the Rockets 15-5. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Aubrey Kolton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 13 strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Chaminade Julienne Catholic got a massive performance out of Alyssa Gorham, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Gorham a new career-high. Mariem Mezni was another key player, going 3-for-6 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Chaminade Julienne Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Archbishop McNicholas only posted a batting average of .259.

The victory got Chaminade Julienne Catholic back to even at 6-6. As for Archbishop McNicholas, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chaminade Julienne Catholic will take on Badin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Eagles have won three straight at home, while the Rams won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Archbishop McNicholas, they will face off against Anderson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
