Colleton County has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. After each having a week off, they and the Stratford Knights will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row dating back to last season, Colleton County finally turned things around against Stall last Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 50-0 victory over the Warriors. The Cougars' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Colleton County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amauri Sanders, who picked up 57 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Travarius Fraizer, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
He was just one part of a punishing run game: Colleton County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 208 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Stratford had to endure a four-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They managed a 23-17 victory over Socastee last Friday.
It was another big night for Jachin Davis, who threw for 153 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 41 yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Stratford's defense and their four sacks. Wes Snowden was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up twohimself. Stratford got some further help from Darrell Holmes: he picked up a sack and made 14 total tackles.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. All came courtesy of Jessie Stament: he went 3-for-3 kicking field goals for nine points, and 2-for-2 kicking extra points for an additional two.
Colleton County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Stratford, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
