Snohomish and Lake Stevens are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Snohomish's hitters haven't had much luck over their past six matches, but Friday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.
Last Tuesday, Snohomish came up short against Lincoln and fell 5-2.
Landon Klein made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Dylan Hutchinson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Lake Stevens entered their tilt with Bothell on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Cougars.
Lake Stevens also got a great performance from Manny McLaurin as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). McLaurin has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Josh Bouley was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Julian Wilson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Lake Stevens pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Snohomish, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Snohomish has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lake Stevens struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
