Combs hasn't had much luck against Poston Butte recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Combs is taking a road trip to take on Poston Butte at 6:00 p.m. Poston Butte took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Combs, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Combs turned things around against Dysart on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Demons. The high-scoring effort was just what the Coyotes needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Nathaniel Barrientes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Barrientes was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Combs got a massive performance out of Angus Brumbaugh, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Combs is 2-1 when Brumbaugh posts three or more hits, but 1-3-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Nolan Wilp, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Poston Butte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Sahuaro. That's two games in a row now that the Broncos have lost by just one run.
Poston Butte saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ricky Aguilar, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Poston Butte's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Combs, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-4-1.
Combs came up short against Poston Butte when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 4-0. Can Combs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
