It was a good run, but the Manchester Regional Falcons unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Saturday. Their tough 62-37 loss to Wayne Valley might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Manchester Regional can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Wayne Valley is ranked 39th).
Caden Flower was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with five assists and five steals for Wayne Valley. Anthony Apicella was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Manchester Regional's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-9. As for Wayne Valley, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manchester Regional will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Rutherford at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Manchester Regional and Rutherford are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Wayne Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Fair Lawn at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Wayne Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine games.
