Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Griffith

Griffith waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Hebron Hawks. Considering the Panthers have won 12 contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Cheyanne Fant's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaida Wheatley, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Natalie Vianello, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Griffith's win bumped their record up to 19-2. As for Hebron, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Griffith will host Hammond Morton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Governors have averaged an impressive 12.4 runs per game this season. As for Hebron, they will be playing at home against Morgan Township at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
