The Southington Blue Knights had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-7 win over Simsbury on the road. The result was nothing new for Southington, who have now won five matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southington to victory, but perhaps none more so than C J DiBenedetto, who threw for 257 yards and five touchdowns on only 19 passes. DiBenedetto is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of John Flynn, who gained 260 total yards.
Southington's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Simsbury, their defeat was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southington will take on Maloney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maloney has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 148 points over their last four games. As for Simsbury, they will be playing at home against New Britain at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (New Britain is ranked 60th, while Simsbury is ranked 80th).
