Baseball Game Preview: Pueblo South Colts vs. Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans

Pueblo South has gone 6-1 against Fountain-Fort Carson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Pueblo South Colts will look to defend their home field against the Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans at 2:00 p.m. Pueblo South is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

Pueblo South's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Sierra 20-0. The Colts' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Caeden Herrera and MJ Molina did most of the damage at the plate: Herrera went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Molina went 4-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave Herrera a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Damian Cordova, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.

Pueblo South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Fountain-Fort Carson didn't have quite enough to beat Pueblo Central on Tuesday and fell 4-3. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Nathan Illert was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Fountain-Fort Carson's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Pueblo South, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Everything went Pueblo South's way against Fountain-Fort Carson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Pueblo South made off with an 11-5 win. Will Pueblo South repeat their success, or does Fountain-Fort Carson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
