Angel Gomez was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Gomez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
Gomez wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Yowelfri Guerrero, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.
South Boston's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
South Boston will be playing at home against Charlestown at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Maimonides, they will head out on the road to challenge Cathedral at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
