The Layton Lancers lost against the Syracuse Titans back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Layton took a hard 62-45 fall against the Titans. While losing is never fun, Layton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Titans are ranked eighth).
Despite the loss, Layton still got an impressive performance from Oakley Homer, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Roxy Casper, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Avery Sanders continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Syracuse, scoring 26 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Sanders has been hot recently, having posted five or more steals the last three times she's played. Maylee Anderson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Layton has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Syracuse, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.
Layton will be playing at home against the Darts at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Davis is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road. As for Syracuse, they will take on the Warriors at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Weber is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
