Berean Christian and Atlantic Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Berean Christian Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Atlantic Christian Sharks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Berean Christian has given up an average of 10.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Berean Christian had taken Glades Day down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. Berean Christian lost 16-1 to Glades Day. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 11, 2019, but that streak is no more.
Berean Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Brown, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Christian made easy work of Palm Beach Lakes on Tuesday and carried off a 16-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Sharks, who have now won six matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.
Landon Moffitt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, David Gonzalez was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Atlantic Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Micah Herring was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Atlantic Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Atlantic Christian now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Berean Christian, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Berean Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Atlantic Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Berean Christian suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Atlantic Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Berean Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
