Whitmire fell 48-40 to Calhoun Falls Charter on Tuesday. Whitmire has struggled against Calhoun Falls Charter recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Whitmire lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Raylin Vicars, who scored 11 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vicars has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Babb, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Calhoun Falls Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Autumn Thomas, who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Sanders, who scored nine points along with 16 rebounds and seven steals.
Whitmire dropped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Calhoun Falls Charter, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
Whitmire will head out on the road to take on McCormick at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. McCormick has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Calhoun Falls Charter, they will be playing at home against Thornwell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Thornwell comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
