The Sunnyslope Vikings will challenge the Basha Bears at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Sunnyslope turned things around against Corona del Sol on Monday. They blew past the Aztecs 13-3.
Sam Hyde was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Molly Nordstrom was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs.
Sunnyslope was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 6-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Basha, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Horizon a 10-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Bears have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Kylee Duffy tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Basha got a massive performance out of Makaila Quinney, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyah Jaiman, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Sunnyslope's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-11. As for Basha, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sunnyslope has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. However, it's not like Basha struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sunnyslope might still be hurting after the 12-4 defeat they got from Basha in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will the Vikings have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
