Softball Recap: Orting Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cardinals on Friday. Orting put the hurt on Franklin Pierce with a sharp 15-3 win. For Orting, this counts as revenge for the 18-7 victory Franklin Pierce walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Ava McCall made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles.

In other batting news, Khloe Smith and Norah Fenton did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Fenton went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Fenton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kirsten Ylvisaker, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Orting kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.

Orting pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Franklin Pierce, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Orting wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-4 loss against Steilacoom on the 20th. As for Franklin Pierce, they have also already played their next game, a 16-5 defeat against Eatonville on the 21st.
