The Grant Tigers will square off against the Kent City Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grant will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Grant is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 14-7 margin over Tri County Area on Tuesday. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Owen Chesebro made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Grant got a massive performance out of Jacob Gates, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave Gates a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kohen Obenauf, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Grant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Kent City made easy work of Morley Stanwood on Tuesday and carried off a 12-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Mowhawks: they've now won three in a row.
Justin Anderson tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Kent City's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, Aaron Vanderwest was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Kent City: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmit Hansen, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Grant's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Kent City, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Grant has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kent City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Grant's way against Kent City in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Grant made off with a 13-0 victory. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
