The Mayfield Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Cambridge N/A at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mayfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Wednesday.
Mayfield's 19-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell to Berne-Knox-Westerlo 53-47.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Brianna Iannuzzi, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. She set a new season high mark in steals with three. Another player making a difference was Cloey Dopp, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Cambridge took a serious blow against Greenwich on Monday, falling 76-29. Cambridge was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-11.
Mayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Cambridge, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Mayfield came up short against Cambridge in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 53-42. Can Mayfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
