Having just played yesterday, the St. Francis Sharks will head out on the road to face off against the Scotts Valley Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on December 29th. St. Francis is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
St. Francis pushed their score all the way to 78 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Harbor by a score of 80-78. Even though they lost, St. Francis' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.8 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
St. Francis' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sam Braun, who scored 31 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Joseph Rose who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. The matchup was Braun's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Gomez, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Scotts Valley had to settle for a 49-46 defeat against Oak Grove on Wednesday.
St. Francis has fallen quite a ways from their 18-8 record last season and are now at 1-8. As for Scotts Valley, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
St. Francis came up short against Scotts Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 63-59. Can St. Francis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
